Graf keeps a golf course green

Not far into the scenic countryside of Co Tipperary in Ireland lies Dundrum House Hotel and Golf Club.

The fantastic Georgian manor has a rich history dating back to 1730. It has evolved into a luxurious retreat blending old-world charm with modern amenities. Yet as the resort flourished – welcoming guests to the golf course, weddings and leisurely escapes – a hidden infrastructure challenge threatened its continued success.

After an inspection from the local authority, the management team was informed that the on-site wastewater treatment system did not meet the strict treatment standards required by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) & the local county council.

This not only prevented the hotel from expanding its facilities but also posed an immediate threat to the surrounding environment, including the river which was receiving poorly treated effluent.

Recognising the urgency and complexity of the problem, Dundrum House Hotel approached GRAF Ireland, a leader in sustainable water management solutions, including wastewater treatment for homes and businesses without access to a main sewer.

The resort needed a solution that would not only exceed the treatment standards required by the EPA and local authorities but also reduce operating costs for the owners through energy efficiency and minimal maintenance.

Remote monitoring was also a factor, as the management team could focus on providing an outstanding experience to their guests rather than worry about what was happening with the wastewater treatment system. After an in-depth analysis, GRAF proposed an 862-person oneAdvanced wastewater treatment system – the largest oneAdvanced system installed in Europe to date.
